About to get a nice warm rain…..
That will not help the snow pack.
Which is marginal already.
Locals are noticing things are different….
The Alders are starting to form buds…
Mountain chickadees (Alias-Cheeseburger birds) are starting to sing territorial….
Two White head woodpeckers were drumming this morning on dead trees near the house.
Geese are paired up and protective of there nesting spots.
Ducks headed north in the evenings…..
Flies and spiders are showing up too.
Seems a little early for this stuff.
Since I can only prepare for the worst, I’m fishing now.
Of course, last year it snowed on June 3d.
You just never know……
Flows are Winter-low and clear.
But, the water temp has crept up to (43-45) apparently the threshold of the fishes ability to chase a streamer.
Skwallas nymphs are near shore, but not emerging yet.
A BWO hatch is likely today. (I’ll let you know)
Overcast and warmish with no wind….perfect.
Some baetis out as well…
Midge mania is in full swing.
Clumps floating on the surface may entice a rise.
Some folks out on the water, overall it’s a pretty cool time of year to fish.
The fishermen who wait for Summer-time fishing may regret it…..
