Shoulder season…

Every year we have a window between Winter and Summer tourist seasons..
This year with the low snow pack, and early resort closures, it will be longer than usual….
As a fisherman, this is your chance to enjoy the fishing by yourself.
The flows are really beautiful, green/very clear. (Some sneak is warranted.)
53-4 deg. AM. Warming as the day progresses. Flows coming down, but still a bit pushy.
The fish are moving more to food, but still not seeing surface action.
I fished dries in your stead yesterday, for an hour….no love.
A light blizzard of Baetis, and a few March browns.
Just because bugs are coming off the water doesn’t mean they’ll rise..
Indy fishing does well. Lots of March brown nymphs in the seine.
Along with sz20 black swimmer baetis. a few Midge larve, a Little Yellow Sallie stone.
A number of terrestrials are on/in the water as well. Smaller black flying beetles.
Dinky Black/red ants, as well as big black Carpenter Ants (Not flying yet.).
Soon the Tuffy river will earn it’s name…Spooky fish, low warmer flows……
But right now, it’s the kinder, friendlier, river…..

The fishing hoard will soon descend on other just-opened waters.
I’ll stay on the T.
Since we fish it year-round, there is no opening day for us.
No rush to the water…But the upper river might be worth exploring……Hmmmm..
Bring your license, and pinch your barbs!!! The Warden is omnipresent….
Have a great season out there.
