Things are about as nice as they will get.
The flows are right, green/clear, 56deg. and rising.
Go lower in the Canyon for bigger water and fish.
Bring a big stick if you have one, flows are up around 600 cfs..
Upper river is great for single handing and wading.
Carpenter Ants are flying…..! Bring some. Might see some noses…..
(I think it may fizzle with high winds today/tomorrow. Tues is the day…..)
Green Drakes are a month or less away, try the nymph….
Cream Caddis, some BWOs, and Midges of course…Little yellow Crane flies are flyin’ too.
There is menu full of bugs now to choose from.
Bring a seine and use it….follow the hatch curves for best results.
Got a smaller fish yesterday (14″) with a fly already in his lip………
Generally we fish 3x to our lead fly, 4x to our dropper. Check your leader for nicks/knots.
Fish 4x to your dry, and use mud for advantage.
These guys are good, but try not to break them off….
Try not to wear bright clothing….be sneaky. Use local cover and shade for approach.
Nuclear blue skies make them spooky.
Bring a hat and sunscreen, air temps are great, but the sun up here will get ya.
Should be a good week.
