Back to very warm….
Starting to chase shade on the way to the water.
Bring a hat, and sun-screen, and drink lots of water…..
Mostly wet wading, to avoid heat prostration.
Waders are a bit much in the sun.
Sounds of Summer are everywhere.
Cycada are droning.
Grass Hoppers buzzing flights.
Crickets chirping….
And……the snapping sound of flies popping off leaders.
Lots of folks flogging the water.
Marching hoards armed with fly rods on a mission……
Honestly, it just helps our reputation.
Tough water for most.
The water is warming but the fish will play early AM.
Small hatch window early and late.
Midges, Caddis, Golden Stones, Crays…and Flavs……
Fish bubbles, and shade….
Grass Hoppers are getting more acceptance lately in mid-afternoon..
Evenings can be productive on dries, but, don’t fish water over 68 deg.
Go deeper into the canyon for cooler water.
Stressing fish isn’t kind to the fishery.
Fish 3x to your dry, keep the fish in the water all the time.(Use a little bitty loop knot for a better drift.)
Take them to bubbles and keep them in the net until c-o-m-p-l-e-e-t-l-y resuscitated.
It is so easy to have fish go into shock in these temps….
Thanks for your support….
Say hi for me.
