Fallish………

Water temp at dawn yesterday was 58 degrees.
That is very fishable!
At that temp fish are feisty.
As the morning warms, fishing slows….
Rise forms are swirls near surface…..a few rises of smaller fish.
Midges are the mainstay. Zebra sz18-20, and adults fished wet.
A few Glossisoma Caddis.
Starting to see a few Baetis, and Isonicia mays doing their undulating flights.
The Golden stones are about done……..
A hopper might do it too…perhaps with a dropper?
Flows are low, but pretty.
The canyon is flowing at 138 cfs.
Now is a good time to do reconnaissance too….
Take a look at the river structure for future reference.
Cobble bars, and holes are exposed.
Be a little sneaky, the water is clear as well as low.
Starting to see more water fowl grouping up.
Osprey have been hunting the river the last few days.
Looks like a high diver into shallow water.
Pairs of Minks hunting, have been seen as well.
Leaves are starting to turn color…..
Berries are ripe, and bears are feasting.
It’s a fun time to walk the water.
