Weather….

The sky ripped open this last 3-4 days!
Rain, and a little snow that melts immediately on contact with the already warmed ground.
Then runs into the river right away.
Some snow on top, but not anywhere near enough…..
The river looks Tan/green today…..and dropping rapidly…..
But the trout are there and eating!
I always say, “The fish can’t leave the water, and they can’t quit eating.”
Fish on the edges, not out in the flood…remember that the menu is expanded when we have high flows…..
Worms, and Stones(Try a dark nymph 2nd instar), Caddis pupas…..
The fish are feisty and thinking Spring. Both Bows and browns being caught.
This week the river will clear/warm, the flows will drop back, and it is game on.
Will see a few spiders flying, Bees buzzing, and maybe the first Skwallas of the year.
Seems way too early to say that, but the conditions warrant it.
If you buy commercial ties, remember to trim the hackle from the underside of the fly.
Skwallas ride so low on the water you can barely see them.
Don’t wait till June, Fish Now!
