Slowly we go…….

I’ll be honest (of course), we need cooler temps, and they may be coming….
The fish are tired of us flogging them……and warmer water having less oxygen, makes fish feel lethargic and a little stressed. I often take time out from fishing this time of year, but still go to the water every day to see……..yesterday I just sat and watched rising fish, it would have been easy to catch them, but it was nice just to watch. I am a fish voyeur……….

I did throw an Adams dry to a duck that was passing by, he turned to eat…….of course I pulled it away before he ate it!  Was just practicing my presentation….ha!
Besides, I knew better than play a Mallard on a 4 weight………I once played a California Gull on a 5 weight and was under gunned…..
Osprey have moved from hunting over lakes where warm surface water has sent fish deeper, to hunting the T because flows are lower and they can find fish.
Mergansers are fledged and on their own, but hanging with other first year birds seeking fry for dinner. This is a sign of Fall approaching…..
I’m also seeing night hawks in numbers feeding at dusk. Lots of berry-pit bear scat to show that the bears are happy……Many deer down from the hills too…
Finding October Caddis already sealed off and pupating…..seems early to me.
Some shrubs are taking on Fall color. Grass is Golden and dry……
Seeing smoke on the water in the mornings…….soon it will be fishy time again…
Every year is different, and we await this year’s finish……..stay tuned…….
