Chilly at night, really nice during the day. Air ranging from 20 deg., 50+ deg.
Water holding pretty steady at 39-40 deg. Very clear, and low winter conditions.
Fishing is good, but they are spooky…… Easy to get around near water, a little slippery in the water.
Studded boots are a good call, as are two pair of warm socks……
The menu is set….
Still midges as the bug of choice.
Skwalla nymphs, golden stones, are the big bugs. Micro Mays, and Baetis.sz18-20. Smaller free ranging Caddis sz18-20 darker gray/green. Seems like spring up here, so keep your eyes peeled for almost anything.
Fishing slow runs, very deep…..Takes are soft…… Use less weight, so you can feel them….. Be alert! When you hook up, treat them nice. Give them time to get their game on in slower water. They seem to need some time to metabolize the lactic acid from the battle. The Bows are coloring up for spawn……
