Looks like we get another week or so before Winter edges closer.
60+ deg. high, to about 24 low. 20% chance Monday for sprinkles.
Time to get out there to enjoy Fall fishing.
Gets dark earlier in the evening…..
Those that like to get up later in the morning, can fish mid-day.
Water is very clear and low 50s….
Fish are spooky in these conditions.
Watch for risers, but give them room.
Mud your leader for best results.
4x and run with them……
Several May flies….
sz20 Dark Baetis, sz18 BWOs, and sz16 Mahogany Dun.
A very few Caddis.sz18-16
A very few little Yellow Sallies sz16.
Midges too.
I said Hoppers were done, and then saw some……This Nov. is the latest I’ve ever fished them…..
You never know out here….you must keep your eyes open.
20 miles of water to fish now, but a different menu scattered along it.
Be aware the Truckee upstream of TROUT CREEK is closed for the season.
Also all tributaries….The Little Truckee above Boca lake is open year-round.
Including the outlet area between Boca Dam and the confluence of the Truckee.(We see a lot of tickets handed-out there.)
Keep an eye out for minks, they have been out and about.
Saw one do a running dive and came up with a 6″ trout.
Got very close to a bear yesterday as well.
A first-year black bear, 250lbs with a blond hair-do.
Not sure who was more startled…..
Limber up that rod, and get after it….
Won’t be too much longer, and you will need much more game, as well as a serious coat.
Right now, a wind breaker, and some fleece will do…..
Wear a little more on the bottom if wading much.
It’s a great time of year to walk the water!
